Happy 2016!

Hope everyone has had a great start to 2016!

We at TCM have had a busy start to the year...

2016 started with the band bringing in the new year at Eskmills Venue in Musselburgh. The band were joined by friends Rick on keyboards and Calum on drums, depping for Emma and Ross - who were joining Boghall and Bathgate on BBC Scotland's Hogmany show live from Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh.

The band were also delighted to return to the Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh to once again entertain the Kaplan International students at their annual Burns Supper. Jonny done the honours piping in the guests and the haggis, before the band took to the stage for the evenings ceilidh lessons - great practice for student teacher Emma!

Febraury and March are looking busy, with ceilidhs, wedding fares and recording plans - but, that's another blog for another day.

Look out for more news in the coming weeks,

November Happenings

Time for a wee update...

The band have been out and about gigging this month again. Firstly, on the 7th, we headed to the Millennium Hotel in Glasgow, where we had the pleasure of playing at band member Emma's wedding reception. The occasion was made extra special for the band as Emma joined in for a few tunes - wedding dress and all!

November 21st saw the band play a ceilidh at the Edinburgh Academy, playing our first ever birthday ceilidh. Aside from the impressive settings, the band especially enjoyed this ceilidh as we got to debut some new arrangements, including Dougie McLeans 'Caledonia' and the Local Hero theme 'Going Home' by Mark Knopfler. The badn had great fun playing these, so look out for more song arrangements in the very near future!

2016 booking are coming in - if you are looking for a ceilidh band please contact us here. Now it's time to enjoy the Christmas period and prepare for our Hogmany gig.

New tunes!

Our latest recordings are now uploaded and available for listening. You can hear them on the Soundcloud player on our homepage, or on our Soundcloud page by clicking here.

The band enjoyed a 2 day recording stint in April, returning once again  to The Depot to record 3 tracks; A set of reels by Mairi Fielding (O'Sullivans No.1 and The Executive Club), the slow air Sarah's Song and hornpipe The Streaker. Production was once again trusted to producer Ric Rogass, who mastered the tracks for the band over the Summer.

Our thanks again go to The Depot and Ric Rogass for a fantastic job, we look forward to working with them again soon.

Summer 2015 Update

As the summer comes to an end, we felt it was time to give an update on what we have been up to.

Pipe Band Season

Four out of our five band members are pipers with one of the worlds leading pipe bands, Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia, and this has meant a lot of the summer has been spent practicing and competing at several major championships. The band narrowly missed out on a placing at the World Championships this year, however all members were pleased with the bands performance and look forward to working at getting back into the prize list.

The band were pleased to return to The Depot recording studios in Edinburgh. Once again we teamed up with producer Ric Rogass to record a new set of demo recordings. The first track, a set of reels where Emma takes the lead, can be head on the band Soundcloud. We look forward to sharing other recordings in the coming days, so stay tuned!

Despite all of the above we have found time to fit in gigs as well, including a ceilidh in the impressive surroundings of Paisley Town Hall. A thanks must go to our dep bass player Adam, who filled in while Gavin was sunning himself in Turkey.

And we must also mention...

In between all of the above, there has also been some exciting news within the band. Our whistler and ceilidh caller Emma Buchan became Emma Hendry as she and husband Gary tied the knot in Skye and piper Jonny became engaged to his fiance Gemma at the Silver Sands of Morar. Congratulations folks!

More news to follow over the next few days as we have had a couple of very interesting enquiries, but that will do for now!

Our first road trip!

Saturday 2nd May saw us play our first ever gig outside of Scotland as the band travelled South to the beautiful setting of Pimhill Barn in Shrewsbury, near Wolverhampton, to provide a ceilidh at the wedding reception of the new Mr & Mrs Larkham – Jones! All credit to the happy couple and families, who decorated the converted barn to create an amazing looking venue for a very memorable ceilidh!

Needless to say, the trip was absolutely worth it as the guests in attendance were up dancing right from the get go! The band had a fantastic time, proving exactly why we are always up for a road trip to provide a ceilidh experience everyone will enjoy.

Big thanks go to Barry and Vicki for inviting us down to share their special day, our dep drummer Calum who traveled with us and those who have provided us with media to share – which shall be uploaded very soon!

Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks!
